This poem was writen as a sort of protest against the general view of law enforcement personel in circumstances where veterans are concerned,a recent article in USA TODAY called all u.s.military veterans "ticking clocks" and said that "special police tactics" needed to be developed to deal with "insane veterans".
Tick tick tick tock!
now they call us
ticking clocks!
call the police
call out the law!
it beats all i ever saw!

they train us to kill
they train us to fight
then call the police on us
in the middle of the night,

raid our homes
while we sleep in bed
then the law
just shoots us dead!

we are veterans
thats all that
needs to be said.

They take your kids
and train them for war
and never tell them
what they are fighting for.

when the war is over
heres what they do,
they send them home
and say "screw you!"

they go to a veterans hospital
and see a psych Doc
the psych doc calls them
a ticking clock!

tick tick tick tock!
you are nothing but
a ticking clock!
of course by ticking clock, they are inferring that you are a time bomb just waiting to explode.
