I'm the last of the CowBoys
theres not one left behind me
and I'm headed for Boston
and thats where I'll be.

I'll sit in some parlour
with a wife not my own
and I'll tell her some stories
and sing her some songs.

For I once was a cowboy
but I aint one no more
and I sold my best saddle
to an old antique store

my spurs they are rusty
and my rope is all frayed
my chaps are worn out
and my boots I've mislaid

All the cowboys are gone now
no one rides that old range
and I'm headed back East
for the times they have changed.

Now the Horse that I rode on
His name was Wild Blue
was shipped off to Denver
and made into glue,

and my old dog is gone
and I loved that dog too
but the Chuck Wagon Cook
cooked Him up in a stew!

And now that old cook
has lost his own life
cause they hung him in Dallas
for Bar Be Queing His Wife!

And my old Trail Boss has quit
it's so sad but it's true,
and he now lives up on Broke Back
with a good friend or two.

And all the Ranches have closed
and They've moved over seas
and all the Beef that I buy
now has Mad Cow Disease!

And all the CowBoys are gone
and none ride that old range
and I'm headed to Boston
cause the times they have changed.
