Making wagon Tracks through the Skies

Making wagon tracks through the skies

While driving east on Florida St.
In Hemet the other day
Sitting at a red light
My eyes began to stray

I stared out the window
There before my eyes
A pair of Jet planes
Were making wagon tracks through the skies

I grabbed my trusty camera
Thatís always nearby
Shot this photo out the window,
Camera pointed toward the sky.

This shows the future
Their jet trails are plain to see
Made by a pair of sleek, fast jet fighters
That serves and protects our country

This also shows the past
Those majestic palm trees
Row upon row
Bending and swaying in the breeze

I remember as a child
While doing my chores
I wondered at the plane engines
That made such a roar

As the two engine airplane
Made its daily run
From Kansas City to Wichita, Kansas
In the late afternoon sun

I marveled at that big machine
High up in the sky
With probably thirty passengers
Winging right on by.

Iíve walked in those wagon tracks
Not many can now be found
But I ran barefoot
In those wagon tracks on the ground.
