The Reflection

The Reflection

I studied this picture
I THOUGHT “MY-O-MY”
Looking into the future
This could be Shirley and I

The wrinkles of love
On the faces there
Matched only by
The graying of the hair

Gave me pause
To take look at me
I wondered if this image
Could this be

Shirley and I
On our anniversary
Seems like yesterday
To me

I answered
When Rev. Altoff said “do you
Take Shirley for your wife”
I said proudly “I do”

We’ve been together
This year “sixty two”
Through happiness and sadness
We’ve made it through

Kansas to California
Made friends by the score
Some have passed on
To be seen no more

They live on
In our memory though
Never to be forgotten
This we do know.

I look at this picture
I can definitely see
There’s a likeness there
Of Shirley and me.
