My first Kiss

My First Kiss

80 plus years ago
I enjoyed a moment of bliss
The first time Shirley Brahman called
And I got my first kiss.

I was decked out
In my rompers with the drop seat
Good white socks
Sunday shoes on my feet

Had my face washed
Mom had cut my hair
Used a gravy bowl
Looked O so debonair

Shirley in her union alls
Skull cap on her head
Union suit tan in color
With collar and cuffs in red

Mom with Kodak at the ready
I was told to pucker just right
Stood with arms at the ready,
In case Shirley put up a fight

Things moved smoothly
Then came the “smack”
Mom and Mrs. Brahman
Were giggling, that’s a fact

Mom and Virgie
Thought the picture was cute
Tried to get us to stand still
For just one more shoot.

One kiss that was enough
For me and Shirley
I wanted to chase her
She wanted to chase me

We were as happy as could be
