I fell asleep on the sofa on a Friday evening. My left arm circled the cat bed
our Ms. Prissy sleeps in while Ginny and I watch television. Priss slept with me. It
was a peaceful evening.

A few hours later, I woke, lifted my head and looked to the other side of the
sofa. Ginny wasn't there. I panicked. "Gin? Where are you, Gin?"

I sat up; blood flowed back into my brain; I remembered Ginny was at work.

For a few moments, I had flashbacks to when my first wife Georgia passed
away. I turned in my sleep many times and reached for the loving body that warmed
me during cold winter blizzards. I'd reach for the woman who gave me two beautiful
children and find her …nowhere.

She was gone.

On this Friday evening, when I looked up to Ginny, and she wasn't there, I had
a moment of panic. What if I woke and she really wasn't there anymore? We have both
been through it before.

We married knowing one of us would see the other die. We don't want to, but
one of us will.

Ginny and I will be married for nine years in May of 2013. We have no regrets.
If we had been afraid of the loss of another spouse, we would have denied ourselves
of nine years of love.

Do not deny yourself love
