I was just seventeen
when I went away,
to fight for old uncle sam
and when I returned
with memories that burned
no one gave a damn.
Now I curse the day
that I went away
to fight, for old uncle sam,
and I live all alone
in an old soldiers home
with my memories of Vietnam.
And I curse the day
that I went away
to fight for old uncle sam.
And now I am old
and my story's been told
and still, no body gives a damn,
and I curse the day
that I went away
to fight, for old uncle sam.
