I grew up in a different world,I grew up where it was an honor to serve your country,an honor to vote, where teenage pregnancy was almost unheard of.I grew up in a world where there were no armed guards nor policemen in the school hallway, and no need to have them there, the teachers and principle took care of all the rowdy youngsters.I grew up in a time when you were expected to work and earn your own living ad raise your own family, and not expect the government to do it for you. These days when you walk (if you dare to walk)down a city street, you see teens and young adults aimlessly standing on a corner or selling drugs to other teens and young adults, these days grown children want to live off their parents or worse live WITH their parents. As a matter of record,I dont recall EVER drawing unemployment,if I became unemployed I went out and found a job.
I dont know what has happened to the America I once knew, nor how we allowed it to get in this shape nor can I offer any solution to todays problems,I can only observe, for the problems of today are not the problems of yesterday and it is in the hands of those same aimless young people that you see just loafing around on the streets of home town america to find a solution.
Frankly I do not see this happening,at least not in my life time. What I do see is a country that is slowly sinking deeper and deeper into the morass of non chalance, where the government is taking more and more controll of every facet of daily living and intruding more and more into the lives of private citizens.
