The Lonely Torii

The Lonely Torii

The Lonely Torii

The Lonely Torii

Requisitioned a Jeep
Headed to Wolmi Do Park
Right next to Inchon
Be back before dark

Took my buddy Ed P.
And a couple Army nurses, (second louies)
Through Seoul, Past the M.P. checkpoint
Back in the toolies

Got to Inchon Harbor
It was low tide
Fishing boats high and dry
Lying on their side

When the tide comes back in
All those fishing boats
Lying on their side
Would again refloat.

Took a dirt side road
Back into Park Wolmi Do
We soon arrived
Doncha know

Nothing there but a lonely Torii
Two deer their bodies thin and scrawny
The shrine a pile of broken wood
Is this what we came to see?

The Lonely Torii
You passed through
Was the gateway
To visit the zoo.

When we moved through the Lonely Torii
The park was a total mess
Kinda ruined our day
I must confess

We had our picnic lunch
On some concrete steps
No park benches anywhere
The grounds not well kept.

We headed home feeling kinda sorry
Now you know the story
About Wolmi Do Park
And the Lonely Torii.
